You can help support the Leech Lake Area Watershed Foundation in its work to protect the water, woods, and wildlife of this special region of Minnesota in the following ways:
- Volunteer your time and talents
We welcome your participation on committees of the Foundation, including the Fundraising/Communications, Land Conservation, or Local Government Committees; your assistance with a specific land conservation project; or your willingness to serve as a liaison between a civic/sporting group that you belong to and the Foundation.
- Purchase Critical Habitat License Plates
By purchasing Critical Habitat license plates for your vehicle, you are directly helping the land conservation projects of the Leech Lake Area Watershed Foundation, which are often supported by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources through the proceeds of these plates and the Reinvest in Minnesota (RIM) fund. - Join and Support Your Lake Association
The Foundation works closely with lake associations in the Leech Lake watershed to help build leadership through Sustainability Committees to identify and protect sensitive shorelands. Supporting your local lake association is support for protection of the lake resources of the watershed.
- Donate Land, Money or Conservation Easements
Many of our completed land conservation projects would not have been possible without the generosity of conservation-minded landowners who donated land or easements to their property to permanently protect their land and lakeshore from future development while still enjoying its pristine beauty. Your monetary donations help support specific conservation projects, delivery of information and education on individual and community stewardship, and development of partnerships with other organizations and state and local governments for the protection of the natural resources of the Leech Lake watershed.
